However, at the same time, in remote areas where the path to school is still muddied with red dirt, where electricity flickers only weakly at night – hundreds of thousands of children start the new school year with only a few old notebooks. Not having enough paper to write on, they gather the old pages, erase last year’s writings, and write over them. Those fragile notebooks become a testament to a quiet injustice: educational opportunities are not distributed equally to everyone.
The telling numbers – and the untold stories
Currently, it is reported that there are approximately 2.1 million children in Vietnam living in poor and near-poor households. Each year, more than 500,000 children in remote areas do not have enough notebooks to start the new school year. According to minimum standards, each student needs at least 40 notebooks per year to meet learning needs. However, in many places, children can only manage around 10 notebooks, and must keep rewriting, using erasers, and crossing out to write again – as there are no other options.
This is not just about the lack of paper and pens. It is the interruption of the journey to school. It is an invisible barrier that makes it easy for children to fall behind, simply due to the lack of one very small thing – a new notebook.
When compassion begins with a simple act
With the desire to bring about a new beginning, and more importantly, to sow seeds of compassion into everyday life, BONZON – BAMBOO initiates the campaign: “Little Notebook – Big Heart,” aiming to donate 10,000 white notebooks to gift to children in difficult circumstances before the new school year.
The campaign is not just a call for charity – but an opportunity for everyone, of all ages,, from parents, students to urban children – to act together. No one is too small to do something kind. And no one is too busy to share.

An emotional beginning – and the journey does not stop here
The first phase of the campaign has been launched at 4 large apartment complexes: SSR, Mizuki, Lotus Garden, and The Prince. In less than 3 hours, more than 200 notebookshas been donated by nearly 1,000 residents. The atmosphere at each donation point is not only lively but also filled with warmth – with cute notes attached to notebooks, and children along with their parents selecting each notebook, writing the phrase “Wishing you good studies”.
The campaign has proven that: Vietnamese people are always ready to give – as long as there is a place for them to start. And now, BONZON – BAMBOO continues this journey by expanding the donation points to BONZON Mart supermarkets.
